How to Vote

On the morning of the vote or the day before, the OLRB will email your individual Voter PIN and voting instructions directly to you at your work email. Please keep an eye on your email account for a message that looks like this: <vote@simplyvoting.com> on behalf of Ontario Labour Relations Board.

Then, when the vote opens at 12 PM on February 26th, you can vote online or by calling the OLRB with your PIN.

The ballot will say: In your employment relations with your employer, which trade union do you wish to represent you:

  • Canadian Union of Public Employees (“CUPE”) / Syndicat canadien de la fonction publique (“SCFP”)
  • Ontario Nurses Union (ONA)

The wrong union means losing your local voice.

If decisions about your work are being made by people who don’t understand what you do,
it can feel like your voice doesn’t matter.

What it looks like when you lose your local voice:

  • Decisions made far away: Priorities set by people who don’t know public health.
  • Higher Dues: Paying more, without a say in how your money is spent.
  • No local control: Your elected reps have less influence over negotiations and spending
  • Risk of concessions: Your protections and pay can be bargained down.
  • Weakened solidarity: Smaller numbers and less strength at the table

When you choose CUPE, you choose strength, stability, and a voice that’s truly yours.

With CUPE, leadership stays local – right here with the people who understand your work. And when bigger support is needed, we’re backed by CUPE National’s full negotiating strength, legal expertise, and resources, giving us real power at the table without sacrificing local control.

What this means for you:

  • Strong, Independent Local: Decisions made by you and your co-workers, not by a distant head office.
  • National Strength: Backed by CUPE’s network of 800,000 members across Canada.
  • No Concessions: CUPE National Reps are not permitted to accept concessions in bargaining.
  • Lower Dues: Keep more of your hard-earned money.
  • Proven Experience: CUPE represents workers in 25 of the 29 public health units across Ontario, including 500 here in Grand Erie, Haldimand, and Norfolk Counties – giving us strength in numbers and a strong local voice.
